All you need to know about oils - which are healthiest?

All you need to know about oils - which are healthiest?

Fruits, seeds, grains and nuts all give us vegetable oils - and most are healthier than animal fats. Sunflower, coconut, corn, soybean and olive oil are among the best known. But when it comes to cooking, which are actually the best choices?

There has been a lot of confusion about which oils are good for you. Given how common they are in our diets - and on our shelves - it has never been more important to use the highest-quality oils we can.

Oils worth keeping in the kitchen

  • For low-heat frying & sautéing - sunflower oil and corn oil.
  • For low-to-medium heat - olive oil, for frying, sautéing and roasting.
  • For high-heat cooking - avocado oil.

A closer look at sunflower oil

High in unsaturated fatty acids, sunflower oil is especially useful for hormone balance and memory, and it helps the body absorb vitamins A, D, E and K. It comes in two main varieties - high-oleic, which suits high-temperature cooking, and high-linoleic, which is better kept for salad dressings.

The takeaway: choose a quality, well-refined oil, and match it to how you are cooking. That is exactly what our Oleh, Omry and Salma oils are made for.
